62 Teams from 18 Different States Compete in Gallatin, TN in the 2010 ISA Senior World Series Championship
Gallatin, TN – The ISA Senior World Series Championship on July 30, 2010 through August 1, 2010 drew a good number of participants from 18 different states as 62 teams united in the Great Smokey Mountains of Gallatin, TN. Each of these teams was seeking to become the 2010 ISA Senior World Series Champions.
“The Gallatin/Nashville area again offered a wonderful blend of exceptional playing facilities and a group of very hardworking grounds crews for the ISA Senior World Championship,” according to Don Stratton, ISA Chief Executive Officer. “During the tournament, games were being played again on 10 diamonds at three separate sports complexes located in beautiful Gallatin, TN,” added Stratton. According to Jerry Jackson, ISA Northern Regional Vice President and ISA Senior World Series Tournament Director, “Each and every team should be congratulated for their hard work, excellent play, and dedication to this tournament. The weather was very challenging, and ISA appreciates all the teams being flexible with the tournament format due to the weather issues. The grounds crews should also be commended on their hard work and dedication to making sure all the games were finished on the fields.”
In addition to the more than 180 games played to determine the ISA Senior World Champions in 13 divisions, many great battles were fought and won on the sometimes wet and challenging clay. The first day of the tournament, Friday, July 30 was probably the best day on the diamonds. The weather was beautiful, and the play was intense. On the second day, Saturday, July 31, the weather was not favorable at all. The day was started with a 2+ hour rain delay, but everyone was determined to get the games in on the clay. Due to the rain and weather, many games were rearranged and shifted. The format on Saturday was changed to a 45 minute clock and a 3-2 count with no courtesy foul. Even with this dilemma, the teams played on. Nothing was going to stop the teams from progressing towards becoming ISA Senior World Series Champions. Again due to a 2nd and 3rd weather delay, the games on Saturday were finally cancelled. At this time, there were still 85+ games still needing to be played. The decision was made to change the format again to make sure all the games were able to be played on the field. The game format for Sunday was changed to a 1 pitch with 5 complete innings of play for every bracket. This format change led to some very competitive and intense games on the diamonds. Many of the games went extra innings. There was even an 8 inning game in the 50 AAA division. An overcast but yet beautiful day of softball took place on each and every field with each team fighting tooth and nail to become the 2010 ISA Senior World Series Champions.
The Senior Men’s divisions took over the Triple Creek Sports Complex in Gallatin, TN, as well as, Municipal Park. The grounds crews did an excellent job getting the fields ready before and after the weather and maintaining them during the tournament. Also, the City of Gallatin did a great job hosting this ISA Senior World Series.
In the Men’s 50 Major Division, 5 teams from 5 different states competed to win the 50 Major 2010 ISA Senior World Series Championship. In the 50 Major Championship game, Kayson’s Grille 50’s from Georgia defeated Team Arkansas from Arkansas with a score of 19-12 to become the 2010 ISA Senior World Series Champions. This game was a good one from start to finish with lots of runs being scored.
In the Men’s 50 AAA Division, 10 teams from 9 different states competed to win the 50 AAA 2010 ISA Senior World Series Championship. In the 50 AAA Championship game, Monster from Tennessee defeated Montgomery Swarm from Alabama with a score of 17-16 to become the 2010 ISA Senior World Series Champions. This game was a close one from start to finish with many close innings and a great battle between the two teams.
In the Men’s 55 Major Plus Division, 5 teams from 4 different states competed to win the 55 Major Plus 2010 ISA Senior World Series Championship. In the 55 Major Plus Championship game, Hendricks from Texas defeated Black and Blue from Indiana with a score of 13-8 to become the 2010 ISA Senior World Series Champions. This game was an exciting battle of two really good teams. It was a fight until the end.
In the Men’s 55 Major Division, 2 teams from 2 different states competed to win the 55 Major 2010 ISA Senior World Series Championship. In the 55 Major Championship game, Kinnco Services from Indiana defeated Kayson’s/Sidelines Grille with a score of 17-2. This game was a display of excellent hitting and defense.
In the Men’s 55 AAA Division, 8 teams from 6 different states competed to win the 55 AAA 2010 ISA Senior World Series Championship. In the 55 AAA Championship game, Pat’s Sports from Florida defeated Brickyard Fiddy Five from Indiana with a score of 12-5 forcing an IF game. Pat’s Sports then beat Brickyard Fiddy Five 17-13 to become the 2010 ISA Senior World Series Champions. This game was another tough battle on the clay.
In the Men’s 55 AA Division, 4 teams from 3 different states competed to win the 55 AA 2010 ISA Senior World Series Championship. In the 55 AA Championship game, Zeppelin from Kentucky defeated Dayton Legends from Ohio with a score of 11-5 to become the 2010 ISA Senior World Series Champions. This game was another good one.
In the Men’s 60 Major Division, 8 teams from 7 different states competed to win the 60 Major 2010 ISA Senior World Series Championship. In the 60 Major Championship game, Wild Bunch from Alabama defeated Minnesota Masters White from Minnesota with a score of 18-11 become the 2010 ISA Senior World Series Champions. This game was fun to watch from start to finish.
In the Men’s 60 AAA Division, 5 teams from 3 different states competed to win the 60 AAA 2010 ISA Senior World Series Championship. In the 60 AAA Championship game, Chicago Classic Bobcats from Illinois defeated Job Central/Indy 60 from Indiana with a score of 10-1 to force an IF game. Job Central/Indy 60 from Indiana then won a good one in the IF with a score of 20-9 to become the 2010 ISA Senior World Series Champions. This game was a true battle of the best.
In the Men’s 60 AA Division, 3 teams from 3 different states competed to win the 60 AA 2010 ISA Senior World Series Championship. In the 60 AA Championship game, Dayton Legends 60’s from Ohio defeated Memphis Veterans from Tennessee with a score of 10-9 to become the 2010 ISA Senior World Series Champions. This game was an epic battle to the end. This game led to the Dayton Legends 60’s repeating as the ISA Senior World Series Champions in the 60 AA Division.
In the Men’s 65 AAA Division, 4 teams from 3 different states competed to win the 65 AAA 2010 ISA Senior World Series Championship. In the 65 AAA Championship game, West Michigan Carelinc from Michigan defeated Columbus Silver Sticks from Indiana with a score of 16-5 to become the 2010 ISA Senior World Series Champions. This game led to West Michigan Carelinc repeating as the ISA Senior World Series Champions in the 65 AAA Division.
In the Men’s 65 AA Division, 4 teams from 4 different states competed to win the 65 AA 2010 ISA Senior World Series Championship. In the 65 AA Championship game, Jim & Joe’s 65’s from Kentucky defeated Chicago Seniors from Illinois with a score of 25-15 to become the 2010 ISA Senior World Series Champions. This game was a fun game to watch with lots of excitement. This game led to Jim & Joe’s 65’s repeating as the ISA Senior World Series Champions in the 65 AA Division.
In the Men’s 70 Major Plus, 2 teams from 2 different states competed to win the70 Major Plus 2010 ISA Senior World Series Championship. In the 70 Major Plus Championship game, Suncoast Orthopaedic Surgery from Florida defeated Doc’s Sports Retail from Michigan with a score of 14-5 to become the 2010 ISA Senior World Series Champions. This game was another good battle on the fields. This game led to Suncoast Orthopaedic repeating as 70 Major Plus ISA Senior World Series Champions again in the 70 Major Plus Division.
In the Men’s 70 AAA Division, 2 teams from 2 different states competed to win the 70 AAA 2010 ISA Senior World Series Championship. In the 70 AAA Championship game, Michiana Merchants from Michigan defeated Chicago Geezers from Illinois with a score of 20-10 to become the 2010 ISA Senior World Series Champions. This game was truly fun to watch and a good time for all that participated.
The 2010 ISA Senior World Championship was a great success, played over three exciting days in the Great Smokey Mountains of Gallatin, TN. We hope everyone is as excited about the 2011 ISA Senior World Series Championship as we are. The 2011 ISA Senior World Series Championship looks to be even better than ever. Go Green!! Play ISA!!
